How this works

Print price stickers for a garage, yard or estate sale on plain paper or Avery 5160 address labels: pick your prices below and download a PDF. It's free and needs no account. There are also color-dot sheets with a sign saying what each color costs, and table signs such as “Everything on this table $2”, “Fill a bag $5” and “Half price after 1 PM”.

A sheet of price tags with dashed cut lines: rows of 25¢, $1, $2 and $5 in large letters, and a row of blank tags with a dollar sign and a line to write on.
Price labels on plain Letter paper.
A sign headed PRICES BY COLOR on a yellow band, listing a red dot marked R at $1, blue B at $2, green G at $5 and yellow Y at $10.
The color-dot price sign.
A sign with EVERYTHING ON THIS TABLE on a yellow band and $2 in very large letters below it.

All three are the PDFs this page makes, shown as they print.

Price labels

Big prices you can read from a step away. Pick the prices you use; a blank label has a line to write your own.

On each sheet

With one price per sheet, this many of each.

Color dots

Put a dot on each item and one sign on the table saying what each color costs. To mark everything down on the last day, you change the sign, not every sticker. Each dot has its letter on it, so the system still works printed in black and white.

Table signs

One sign per PDF, in the same black and yellow as our sale signs. A full page, or two half-page copies to cut apart.

Sign

For the table, bag, “firm until” and “half price after” signs. Left blank, the sign has a line to write on.

Single prices or color dots?

Printed prices are the simplest: a shopper reads the sticker and knows. They suit a sale where most things cost one of a few round amounts, which is how our pricing guide suggests pricing a garage sale.

Color dots suit a big sale. The dot only says which group an item is in, and the sign on the table says what each group costs, so on the last afternoon you can halve every price by changing one sign. They also let several families share a sale: give each family its own color and a tally sheet, and you know whose things sold. The letter on each dot means the system still works on a black-and-white printer and for shoppers who don't tell colors apart.

Not sure what something is worth? Take a photo of it with What is it worth?, which looks it up and shows what similar items are listed for on eBay.

Printing them

Print at actual size (“100%” or “Actual size” in the print window), not “Fit to page”, or the labels won't line up with the sheet. On label sheets, print one page on plain paper first and hold it against a label sheet to the light: if the prices sit inside the labels, load the label sheet.

Sticky labels can pull the finish off wood furniture and old book covers. On those, use a paper tag tied on with string or a strip of painter's tape.
