About Estate Sale Zone
Estate Sale Zone lists estate, garage, yard and moving sales around San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles on one map, free to browse. It's run by Rory Hansen, who also writes, edits and reviews the guides and the how-to pages.
How our guides are made
Every guide and how-to page is researched, written, edited and approved by Rory before it's published, and checked again whenever it's updated. Each one shows who wrote it and when it was published and last updated.
- Rules, laws, prices and statistics link to where they come from: the city's own code, the state agency, the platform's help page or the survey itself. Rules pages say the date we checked them.
- Figures about sales, like which day estate sales start, are counted from the sales listed on Estate Sale Zone, and the page says when they were counted.
- Where a guide gives our own suggestion rather than a sourced fact, it says so.
- Pictures are our own output (real signs and pages from the site), drawings from our sister site, or photos licensed for reuse and credited under each one. Quotes from forums appear only once someone has checked the words at the link.
- Each how-to page is checked against the feature it describes; its date moves when it's checked again.
- Nothing on the site is legal or tax advice. Rules change, so check with your city before a sale.

Rory Hansen runs Estate Sale Zone. The guides and how-to pages carry Rory's byline, and the site's emails come from “ Rory at Estate Sale Zone”.
Where the sales come from
Most sales are collected automatically from estate sale companies' websites and from public garage sale posts, such as those on Craigslist, by our crawler. Others are posted by sellers on Estate Sale Zone. Every sale links to its source.
Listings aren't checked by a person one by one, so dates, times and addresses can be out of date. Check the original listing before you go, and use “Report a problem” on a sale that's wrong.
Corrections
If a guide gets something wrong, or a rule has changed, email hello@estatesalezone.com with the page and what's wrong. Rory checks it against the source, fixes the page, and moves its “Updated” date.
